BET Awards:
I must say that I was very happy with the BET Awards this year. The
performances were tight and I was glad to see some artists win for their first time. Missy and Ciara's performance of "Loose
Control" was amazing and I gotta point out that Chi-Town was representing with the footwork dancers doin their thing. It's
about time cause footwork is not easy. Everybody can't do it, like all these other easy dances. Ya'll know what I'm talkin
about..the chickenhead, crumpin' , and even th A-Town stomp. They say 'peace up, A-Town down.' Well I say
'peace up, Chi-Town Down.'(lol) Anyway, I'm gettin off track. Oh yeah, the BET Awards. I have one word....Beyonce...Terrence
Howard is one lucky man to have been part of that performance. Destiny's Child made sure they went out with a bang and they
did just that. Holla!
Ciara does it again:
Whoever has been keeping up with music
videos should know that Ciara has a hot new video out for her single "Oh" featuring my favorite rapper Ludacris. The choreography
is crazy and the sets are spunky and eye-catching. That's the stuff great videos are made of. I can definitely see that Ciara
is going to be a consistent favorite of mine. From "Goodies" to "1,2 Step" and now "Oh". Oh yeah she definitely keeps it comin
fresh. Luda's video for #1 Spot is no doubt hot as well. What is it about the ATL?(lol) Anyway if you wanna keep up with Ciara,

Grammys:
I don't know about you, but I get really excited
around Grammy time.I was more than happy to see Kanye West take home three Grammys this past Sunday. He truly deserved them
and I can't wait to see what his next album has to offer. Alicia Keys hands down had to be my favorite performance of the
night. She just gets better and better with time in my opinion. It was nice to see Maroon 5 win because I really like their
music. John Mayer is another artist that I feel is very unique and talented as well. All the time I was watching the Grammys,
I kept thinking about how it would feel if I was there accepting one of my own. Well, I'm just taking things one day at a
time of course, but one day, I hope that my dream becomes reality. How cool would that be!
John Legend:
I
gotta say thet I'm very happy for John Legend. He's a new 25 year old singer on the scene and his album "Get Lifted" had debuted
at the top of the Billboard Charts. Holding steady at no.1 on the hip hop/R&B chart and moving from no.7 to 4 on the pop
charts after two weeks. This Kanye West protege has been paying his dues for years doing numerous guest spots for Jay-Z, Slum
Village,Alicia Keys and etc.. Now his unique voice and charm is being noticed big time. I would definitely recommend his album.
Next Big Thing?:
The year 2004 was filled with excitement, scandal and everything else that comes to mind.
There were Confessions, Britney's marriages, Presidential elections and passing fashion trends. Now that it's officially 2005,
I'm just a little bit curious as to what will have us buzzing this time around. Will this year give birth to a new crop of
superstars? I think. Will this year see a boost in the economy? I hope. Will the music artists who reigned last year be able
to pull it off again? Maybe. One thing I do know is that my resolution for the new year is to come up in the world. I don't
know when or how but I know I will. I think that's a good goal to set because it can apply to anyone who wants to succeed
at something. My goal is to soon become the next big thing!! Who's with me?
Did Mario Diss Usher?:
We
all know Mario is heating up the charts right now with his hit single 'Let Me love You', but another song on his album is
raising a few eyebrows as well. On his new sophomore release Turning Point, there is a song called '18' where Mario says "people
I grew up havin' admiration for seem to have the feeling that I'm tryin' to replace them". He adds on during the chorus when
he says "I got seven years to catch up so what's up?" Now we all know that 18 + 7 years = Usher's age before he currently
turned 26 years old. There is no other male artist out now as hot as Usher or his age, so it's obvious that it's about him.
I'm just wondering what sparked Mario to make a song about this. Did Usher say something about him? I really don't know. What
do you guys think? Whatever the case,Mario is definitely doin' his thing right now. The young ones are takin' over. Holla!
KANYE WEST GETS 10 GRAMMY NOMINATIONS!!
After being nominated for various awards at several awards shows
and receiving very little of them, Chicago's own Kanye West could easily be bitter right now. I have a hint that he's feeling
pretty good after learning of his remarkable 10 grammy nominations this past Tuesday. That's more than anyone was nominated
for in the whole program. Usher and Alicia Keys both nabbed 8 nominations each.Kanye lamented that before he made it big,
he used to think of grammy speeches while riding the trains in Chicago. Well Kanye, I think that in February when the Grammys
take place, you'll finally get your chance to say them. This makes me so proud to be a Chicagoan!!
Vibe Awards
and Source Awards:
I just wanna know when black awards shows are going to stop being so ghetto. Why is it that when
you get a bunch of black people together, somebody always starts a fight. I'm referring to the Vibe awards when my man Dr.Dre.
got attacked. That was insane. Then my boy Young Buck stabbed somebody. Who knows what's going to happen to him. The Source
Awards wasn't that bad, but it was hilarious because my great grandmother was watching it too and her comments about how horrible
it was got me laughing so hard. I just had to say that.
Ludacris'New Video:
That video is definitely ludacris,in
a good way.I was crackin up at his giant forearms and how he beat the guy up in the washroom for messin with him. His crew
of big girls as opposed to a crew of thugs was also innovative and funny. Ludacris is definitely one of my favorite rappers
in the game. I can't wait to get his new album Red Light District.
Ciara:
Ciara is a really cool artist
that I've been watchin' since this summer. She's definitely on her way to superstardom in my opinion. She is an amazing performer
and I think she's filling a void in the industry for females that can really hold their own on the dancefloor or in a dance
battle. She heats it up even more in her new video 1,2 Step featuring Missy. I enjoy her whole album as well. Keep it up Ciara!!
